Social responsibility means our duty towards students, customers and personnel. The Group wants to offer students and other customers high-quality service and a superior product range. Responsible operations involve providing alternatives. We are enhancing the quality of our service though open, mutual dialogue with customers.

We are responsible for our personnel’s well-being at work, as well as for their working environment and expertise. This means a personnel policy based on equality and enabling personnel to have a say when it comes to their own work, training and workplace recreational activities.

Student meals the most important service

The UniCafe restaurant chain is responsible for arranging student meals. HYY Real Estate provides students with activity and association premises both in the centre of Helsinki and in Etu-Töölö in the vicinity of Kamppi. The Old Student House offers students, music groups and other student associations a place to hold their activities and celebrations. University Press Finland Ltd publishes academic and scientific literature under the Gaudeamus imprint.

Several Group companies operate with the sole aim of generating the profit required to provide financial support for student services: HYY Real Estate leases commercial and office premises, UniCafe’s Empire restaurants and the Old Student House host private functions, and Hostel Academica runs a summer hostel.
